AGILESYSTEMS

Set up the ground before we build.

James, these four steps create the accounts your new website runs on. Everything sits in Agile Systems' name, so you own the code, the hosting, the domain and the enquiry form. Then you give me access to build and launch it.

Website prep for go-live

Pre-flight checks.

Four free accounts, about 30 minutes in total. Work through them in order, since the GoDaddy step needs details from the Cloudflare step.

You own it

Every account uses an Agile Systems email. Nothing ever needs transferring later.

No passwords shared

You invite me as a team member. I never need your logins, and you can remove me any time.

Turn on 2FA

Switch on two-step login for each account. Your domain and site are worth protecting.

01 / GitHub

Store the code.

GitHub holds the website's code with a full history of every change. Cloudflare publishes the site straight from here.

≈ 10 min · github.com
  1. Go to github.com/signup and create a free account with your Agile Systems email. A username like agile-systems-au works well.
  2. Verify your email, then turn on two-factor authentication.
Profile picture → Settings → Password and authentication → Enable two-factor authentication
  3. Create the website repository.
+ (top right) → New repository
Name it agile-systems-website, set it to Private, tick Add a README file, then click Create repository.
  4. Add me as a collaborator.
In the repository → Settings → Collaborators → Add people
Search for my GitHub username and choose Add to repository.
    esharding
Send meYour GitHub username. I'll accept the invite from my end.
02 / Cloudflare

Host the site.

Cloudflare hosts the website, runs your DNS and adds free security and speed, so pages load quickly even for clients on a remote site connection.

≈ 5 min · cloudflare.com
  1. Go to dash.cloudflare.com/sign-up and sign up with the same Agile Systems email. Verify your email when it arrives.
  2. If it asks you to add a domain or pick a plan, skip it. I'll add the domain on the Free plan once I'm in.
  3. Turn on two-factor authentication.
Profile icon → My Profile → Authentication
  4. Invite me to your account.
Home → Manage Account → Members → Invite
Enter my email, select the Administrator role, and send the invite.
    emilysharding95@gmail.com
Send meA quick message once the invite has gone. After I accept, I'll add your domain and send you the two Cloudflare nameservers.
03 / GoDaddy

Point the domain.

Your domain stays registered with GoDaddy. We only point it at Cloudflare so the new site goes live on your address. Pick one option.

A · Give me delegate access

  1. Sign in at godaddy.com.
  2. Your name (top right) → Account Settings → Delegate Access
  3. Click Invite to Access, enter my name and email, and choose Products & Domains.
  4. Click Invite. I'll handle the DNS so you don't have to.
Delegate access excludes your payment details and purchasing. You can revoke it any time.
Do it yourself

B · Change the nameservers

  1. Wait for the two Cloudflare nameservers from me. They look like name.ns.cloudflare.com.
  2. My Products → Domains → your domain → DNS → Nameservers
  3. Click Change Nameservers and choose I'll use my own nameservers.
  4. Replace the GoDaddy entries with the two Cloudflare ones, click Save and confirm.
Your email keeps working. Before anything switches, I'll copy your existing email records into Cloudflare and check them. The changeover can take up to 24 hours, though it's usually within the hour.
Send meWhich option you chose, and your domain name exactly as registered.
04 / Formspree

Catch the enquiries.

Formspree powers the contact form. When a client requests a survey, it lands straight in your inbox.

≈ 5 min · formspree.io
  1. Go to formspree.io and sign up on the free plan with the email you want enquiries sent to.
  2. Verify that email. Formspree only delivers to verified addresses.
  3. Create the form.
    + New Form
Name it Website enquiries and confirm the email it sends to.
  4. Open the form's Integration tab and copy the form endpoint. It looks like this:
    https://formspree.io/f/abcdwxyz
This link is safe to share. It only accepts form submissions and gives no access to your account or inbox.
Send meThe form endpoint. I'll connect it and send a test enquiry so you can see what arrives.
Checklist

Ready for launch.

Tick these off as you go. Once they're all done, message me and I'll take it from there.
